Bio

Originally from St. Louis, Tim Manion studied philosophy and theology at St. Louis University. In seminary, he met the other members of the St. Louis Jesuits and began composing in 1973. The young musicians released several collections that would eventually be widely used throughout English-speaking Catholic parishes, as well as in mainline Protestant denominations. In 1980, the five men moved to Seattle, Washington, where they recorded Lord of Light in 1981, after which Tim left the group to pursue other interests.

Tim’s solo collection, There Is a River, was originally released by North American Liturgy Resources in 1985. His gift for poetic song texts — all familiar from his days with the Jesuits — shines through each of the nine songs.

Currently Tim lives in the Seattle area. He continues to compose folk music.
