O Sacred Banquet
By combining the poetic sequence for Corpus Christi with a paraphrase of O Sacrum Convivium, Joncas has crafted a powerful Eucharistic hymn. The stately, flowing refrain tune in E major beautifully contrasts with the verses, which are set in E minor. This octavo contains two presentations of the song: an extended polyphonic setting for SATB choir, organ, and guitar, and a simpler unison hymn version. Although appropriate for any Eucharistic celebration, this song will be particularly effective on Corpus Christi and Holy Thursday.
