This simple yet hauntingly beautiful a cappella piece expresses the quieter side of joy during the Easter season or Ordinary Time when the readings reflect upon discipleship and trusting in and abiding with Jesus. While written as an a cappella piece, a drone-like open fifth may also be sung or played to support the choir. It is meditative in nature with a mantra-like refrain text that helps place one in the presence of God. Liturgically flexible, it can be sung as a prelude, for the Preparation of Gifts, as a song of praise after Communion, or for the Rite of Acceptance and Election, the dedication of churches and altars, and Parish anniversaries.
