Cher and Gene Klosner, a sister-brother singer-songwriter duo, have performed across the U.S. for many years, including World Youth Day 1993 in Denver. This experience led to the release of their music collection, Denver. They also have a Christmas collection, Ribbons and Pine, and a recording of sacred music, Sunday.
In addition to performing at music festivals, on the college circuit, and composing music for various television and animation projects, Cher and Gene composed a contemporary Mass setting called Light the Fire!, which is being used at churches throughout the country. They direct three choirs at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Paramount, California, including the contemporary choir, Upon This Rock.
Founded by the Klosners in 1999, Upon This Rock is a high-energy group, comprised mainly of teens and young adults, but the 35-plus-member choir ranges in age from 10 to 70. Their positive songs come from a variety of sources, from contemporary gospel to pop. Recently, they performed at the unveiling of the United in Memory 9/11 Memorial Quilt, for which Cher and Gene were commissioned to write the dedication song, “Tower of Love.”
Cher and Gene’s recordings are heard on radio stations around the country, and they have performed on stage with many noted performers, including contemporary Christian artists Michael W. Smith, Gary Chapman and Kathy Troccoli.
Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Cher and Gene currently reside in Valencia, California.
