Sarah Hart's contemplative contemporary song based on the Beatitudes touches on their themes of suffering, love of God, trust, sacrifice, social concern, faith and eternal life. The song will offer a wonderful opportunity for reflection and fit into many liturgies. It is especially appropriate for the Feast of All Saints.

"I have always loved the Beatitudes, and how eloquently Jesus gives these words and ideas in a way that people will understand. Jesus speaks as a friend and brother, and goes straight to the heart of the people — the heart of their humanity. He lovingly turns what they might imagine of God — almighty, distant, to be feared — to something new: a close consoler, a present healer, a steady comfort, a loving presence who sees us and knows our pain. I wrote “Blessed Are You” near the middle of the pandemic in 2020, when many of us were financially unstable, losing livelihoods. We suffered with illness and the losses of loved ones. We were often secluded, and unseen. And — pandemic aside — there are so many souls who struggle each and every day in these ways. Yet in every struggle and moment of pain, God stands in our midst saying 'I see you, I am with you. When things are at their worst, I am right beside you, blessing you all the way.'"
