Women Composers Symposium
Join us for the first Women Composers Symposium
on July 10–11, 2020
Be among a unique group of women that share your passion and expertise in music composition and song writing. The concept for this event came about from a group of women who had attended the 2019 Liturgical Composers Forum and yearned to hold a similar event solely for women. In response, we are inviting women composers from across the U.S. and abroad to gather together in solidarity, and to inspire each other to compose and submit more music.

Bernadette Farrell
Keynote & Facilitator
Bernadette is one of the most beloved composers of music for worship on both sides of the Atlantic. Songs like “Christ, Be Our Light” and “O God, You Search Me” are worship staples in the hymnals of every denomination. Her inspiring presentation to composers at the Composer Forum event has encouraged many women to seek more of her wisdom as it relates to composing music and publishing more works.
Delores Dufner, OSB
Prayer Leader
Benedictine Sister Delores Dufner is one of the best-known hymn writers in the church today. More than 20 different publishers have included her texts in their hymnals and hymn collections. The popular hymn anthology, Sing a New Church, contains her distinctive, beautifully crafted texts set to familiar hymn tunes.

Where should I send my check payment?
Check payments should be sent to this address: OCP, PO Box 18030, Portland, OR 97218-0030
How is this event different from the Composers Forum?
This event will give you an opportunity to meet and talk with your peers and also the publishing companies directly, as well as developing a greater network of your female peers in music composition.
Will this event be held again?
Currently we would like to say yes to this question. We are hoping to be able to continue this type of event in the future, especially if it is fulfilling a need.
