Sing Praise to God - Providence

  • In partnership with Christ the King parish in Providence, Rhode Island, OCP presents "Sing Praise to God," a conference that brings musicians together to do what they love to do, in worship of the God they love to serve.

  • Description:

    Combining the best elements of retreats, teaching and reading sessions, participants will experience Sing Praise to God as a day of renewal and inspiration. OCP composers Jaime Cortez, Tom Kendzia, and Curtis Stephan will serve as presenters, prayer leaders, and musicians.

    • Music for Gathering, the Communion Rite, and Dismissal
    • Contemporary, traditional, choral, and more
    • Learn new music, plus discover hidden treasures in your missal and hymnal

    Learning:

    • Selecting Music for Your Congregation
    • Cantors and Responsorial Psalms
    • Tips for Workign with Ensembles

    • The Vocation of the Pastoral Musician
    • Prayer and reflection

    9:45am Keynote: The Vocation of the Pastoral Musician presented by Curtis Stephan

    10:30am Break

    10:45am Four Breakout sessions presented by Jaime Cortez, Tom Kendzia, Heather Skidds, and Curtis Stephan

    12:00pm Lunch

    1pm Keynote: The Care and Feeding of Your Music Ministers presented by Tom Kendzia

    2:15pm Large Group Sing: Tom, Jaime, Curtis will lead a large group reading session

    3:15pm Mystogia and Closing Prayer

    3:45pm Conclude!

    Registration fee includes lunch and complimentary copies of octavos, a Glory and Praise Third Edition Hymnal, and other OCP materials.
